How IPEC’s Asset Management Program Helps to Increase Equipment Uptime and Productivity

MAIN TAKEAWAYS:

  • An asset management program (AMP) helps plant engineers and maintenance teams gain visibility into the operating condition and performance of industrial equipment.
  • AMPs also help engineers create more proactive maintenance schedules to maximize uptime and productivity.
  • IPEC Asset Management Engineer Aryan Tamrakar believes IPEC’s AMP is a natural extension of the company’s commitment to servicing what they sell.

One of the biggest challenges for plant operators is tracking output and performance. These factors directly influence maintenance frequency and duration, which in turn affect efficiency and productivity.

An asset management program (AMP) provides plant engineers with visibility into field equipment status, enabling proactive maintenance schedules. This reduces unplanned downtime and supports better strategic planning to meet production goals.

AMPs offer many additional benefits. In this interview, IPEC Asset Management Engineer Aryan Tamrakar discusses how IPEC's AMP helps engineers maximize equipment performance and efficiency.

Let’s first start with what makes IPEC’s AMP unique. What sets it apart from others?

I think what makes IPEC's AMP unique is that it's more than just performance data or troubleshooting alerts. Our platform creates a true partnership with the customer's maintenance team by providing updated BOMs, comprehensive product specs, and current spare parts lists. This helps teams quickly identify available resources or know when to contact us for support.

Like other AMPs, we prioritize equipment data collection and storage, but our centralized customer portal makes this information instantly accessible—giving an accurate snapshot of equipment location, operating conditions, and performance.

What kind of equipment data or specs does IPEC’s AMP track?

When a customer accesses their portal, they can clearly and easily view a variety of critical data that’s sorted by the equipment type or name. For example, a customer can click on a specific pump and instantly access data points like:

  • Design condition
  • Current operating condition
  • Seal configuration
  • Motor HP
  • Inlet and outlet size
  • Type of fluid being processed

Our AMP has the capability to track total spend on a piece of equipment — both the original purchase price and any maintenance costs — to help maintenance teams make more strategic budgetary decisions. This helps optimize equipment and operational costs, which is extremely important given the economic and supply chain uncertainties we’re likely to see this coming year.

Are there benefits IPEC’s AMP program provides to your maintenance engineers that can trickle down to customers?

One major benefit is visibility into how and where equipment operates. Operating conditions often differ from design specs, giving us early indicators of potential issues. Access to the complete BOM—all pump components—is another key advantage. Many customers struggle to find this information. Having it centralized and accessible to both teams enables more customized service for specific problems.

At IPEC, we service what we sell, and our AMP enables us to do that.

Is there one aspect of IPEC’s AMP that you feel is an improvement over other AMPs you’ve seen?

Documentation. Our AMP makes it quick and easy for customers to access all equipment documents—from BOMs and IOM manuals to spec sheets and visual assets—in one place, shareable with authorized users.

Another differentiator is built-in maintenance planning within the portal. Teams can also log troubleshooting and service history in the same location, making it simple for everyone to understand equipment status and history. This improves internal communication and fosters collaboration—both within organizations and with us.

In just a couple words, how would you summarize the value IPEC’s AMP provides to customers?

Visibility, transparency, and simplicity. These are things that so many companies lack when it comes to equipment maintenance — especially companies that operate multiple facilities or have a high number of pumps and equipment in use. IPEC’s AMP helps engineers and maintenance teams understand exactly how equipment is being used, the state that equipment is in, and can — or should — that equipment be optimized to increase efficiency and productivity.

At the end of the day, I feel our AMP does that, and I feel it takes an extra step in helping to create a true partnership with the customer. IPEC is built on relationships — that’s what we’re known for and that’s what we’re always trying to create.
